a. Know five cloud formations and weather associated with each. Sketch two types
b. Be able to read a barometer and to interpret readins of a wet and dry bulb thermometer
c. Describe seveal ways to judge wind direction and velocity.
d. Be able to read an official weather map and to interpret and understand television and radio weather reports
e. Keep a weather chart for one week and predict local weather conditions twelve to twenty four hours in advance each day

Anchors- Be able to identify and explain the various parts of an anchor and explain scope and rode as used in anchoring. Identify the different types of anchors and tell how each are used. Know the proper anchoring procedures, including release, recovery, and proper storage of anchors.
4. Ground Tackle- Be able to idenify and explain various uses of ground tackle, including a capstan or windless. Explain the proper use of all of the equipment used in line handling. Identify and explain the fittings used to handle chain. Describe the various kinds of anchor cable and the advantages of each type. Describe the methods of marking chain or line. Understand and execute the commands used in handling ground tackle. Idenitfy and
and explain the use of the following: thimble, shackle, turnbuckles, pelican hook, sister hook, and other ship's hardware and fittings commonly used aboard your craft.
5. Bearings and fixes- Know how to take and use bearings and fixes. Know various methods of determining depth. Be familiar with different types of logs used to determine the speed of the vessel.
6. Plan and execute a weekend trip- Include the organization of the trip, leadership, division of responsibilities, manners and coustoms afloat, rules of the road, food and entertainment. Be prepared to execute a man-overboard drill or other emergency procedure. Know what safety equipment is required by law for your type of craft. Know how to pack a sea bag. Briefly describe and evaluate your outing.
